About the Author:

Phil Andrews, was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Marcy Housing Development. He attended Brooklyn Technical High School, which is a specialized school in New York City. He has lectured throughout New York State at various colleges and universities. He was the Vice President and Marketing Director of the Haircut Hut franchise for over a decade.

Mr. Andrews is listed in Who’s Who in Black America and International Who’s Who.

He is also featured in a book published by, Mr. Robert H. Adams entitled, 15 years of Minority Business Development. Currently, he is the Public Relations Director for Cbbooksdistribution.com, Awarenessmagazine.net, SGIB Magazine.com, Renaissancemanmagazine.com, Hempstead Horn Newspaper, African Atlantic Genealogical Association, and 100 Black Men of Long Island, Queens Book Fair (http://www.queensbookfair.com).

Mr. Andrews is a current member of the Caribbean- American Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc., Member of Urban League of Long Island (Young Professionals), Black Public Relations Society of New York, Chairman of Public Relations for The United Black Men of Queens, Inc., and member of the New York Association of Black Journalist.

In October of 1995, Mr. Andrews was presented the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce/Roosevelt Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year Award.

In 1998, he was presented with the Nassau Council of Chambers/West Indian Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year Award. He has also received a citation from the 18th Assembly District of Long Island New York, Assemblywomen Earlene Hooper Hill.

In 2005 Mr. Andrews received a Proclamation for Outstanding Service to New York’s 10th Congressional District presented by Congressman Ed Towns. Mr. Andrews has received Proclamations from former Nassau County Executive Thomas S. Gullotta, and former Town of Hempstead Supervisor Mr. Richard Guardino. In December 2005 Mr. Andrews was inducted into the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. as a Member Visionary.

Other publications he has been featured in are: Point of View Newspaper, Black Star News, The New York Beacon, The Gleaner Extra, Caribbean Life Newspaper, Afro-American Times, The Network Journal Magazine, Community Journal Newspaper, Economic Forum Newspaper Minority Business Review, Amsterdam News, and Shop Talk Magazine. Currently, he is the Public Relations Director for JoJo’s Caribbean Showcase TV Show, and is on the Public Relations committee for the Harlem Book Fair on Long Island, which attracted over 2000 participants in 2003, Harlem Book Fair on Long Island.

Mr. Andrews is also currently serving as the Public Relations Committee for the New York Metro MBA Association and the 100 Black Men of Long Island. Mr. Andrews writes a weekly business column for Blackstarnews.com.
